FAN FICTION READING ROOM

Terms of use

A place to organise your reading, discover your next story, and keep its creators in view.

Updated 9 October 2026 · Applies to ffreadingroom.com and The Reading Room Chrome extension.

Why The Reading Room exists

Our goal is to turn reading spreadsheets, including Excel lists, into something easier to search and navigate. You can keep track of stories you have read, organise what you want to read next, and discover stories through reading lists other people choose to share.

The Reading Room is a reading journal for all kinds of stories and fandoms. You do not need to record a romance or relationship to add a story.

Stories belong to their creators

We do not own or claim ownership of the stories linked from The Reading Room, their characters, or other creators’ work. Rights remain with their respective creators and rights holders. Adding a story to a library or shared reading list does not transfer those rights to us or to another reader.

We do not publish or republish stories or chapters as part of this service. Our tools save links and descriptive details, such as titles, author names, character and relationship tags, word counts, content ratings and summaries. Full stories and chapters are not imported for reading here. Use the source link to read on the original site and support the creator there.

Respect creators and other readers

Use your library for reading records, source links and your own notes. Do not upload, paste or distribute full stories or chapters through summaries, notes, imports or shared lists. Do not use the service to bypass a creator’s access restrictions or republish work that has been removed from its source.

Keep author attribution and source links accurate. Only add or share material you have the right to use, and respect other people’s privacy when writing notes or sharing a list.

Your library and shared lists

Your library is private by default. You choose whether to share selected reading records or your whole library, who can open the list, and which personal details to include. Shared lists require a signed-in account. Saving an entry from someone else’s list copies its descriptive information and links into your own library; it does not copy the story itself.

The privacy policy explains what information we save, how imports and optional AI work, your sharing controls, and how to request account deletion.

Original sites and story information

The Reading Room is independent and is not affiliated with FanFiction.net, Archive of Our Own or the Organization for Transformative Works. Linked sites have their own terms and access requirements. Creators and those sites control whether a story remains available.

Imported details and optional AI suggestions can contain mistakes. Check the original story page for its current description, content warnings and access information.

Contact support@ffreadingroom.com about these terms, incorrect attribution, or material you believe should not appear in a reading record. Include the Reading Room link or entry details and the original source link so we can review the concern. Do not send passwords, API keys or authentication links.
